Are you a multi-talented entrepreneur? You NEED a Personal Brand.
Are you ready to start your creative business but feeling trapped by the idea of picking only ONE thing? Contrary to what you might have heard, you can absolutely show up with more than one hat in your business – the key for you is a Personal Brand.
How to Start a Personal Brand
1. You can incorporate all of your passions under one umbrella.
Gary Vaynerchuck started out with a Youtube show about wine. Now he is a multimillionaire in the public speaking field. The secret to his success? He has always been himself. His brand has always been Gary Vee. Because he started out as a personal brand, his brand grew with him into all of the areas he wanted to explore and become an expert in.
2. A personal brand puts you at the front, not your static offering.
If you start out as a travel blogger and brand your business as, “Girl who Travels” you will have to do a major brand overhaul down the line if you choose to add other offerings, such as copywriting or graphic design. 🤦♀️
While it is a good idea to pick fewer things and do them well, no one is one dimensional – we all have various things we enjoy doing. Avoid sticking yourself in a box if you have even two things that you want to do. You’ll thank yourself later, and save a lot on rebranding material.
Example Time…
Successful personal brands include Jenna Kutcher, Marie Forleo, and Amy Porterfield. These powerful women have started small like the rest of us, but they branded themselves well and it grew alongside them to celebrity status.
3. You don’t have to be a celebrity to have a personal brand.
Nor do you have to want to be a celebrity. Although Celebrity Branding You is a fantastic resource when you’re ready to create your personal brand, Dicks and Nanton (both leading Brand Specialists) agree that you do not have to be a celebrity nor want to be a celebrity to benefit from this.
4. Instead, you can focus on building a loyal tribe.
When you are fully centered in your authentic brand voice, the right people will find you. These people are your tribe. Focus your attention on the cultivation of an engaged audience while being uniquely you and your Personal Brand will flourish.
Above all, always be true to yourself.
Clients and customers can feel when we shine and when we don’t. If we hide behind what works for others instead of focusing on whats works for ourselves, we run the risk of losing our audience or even worse – never gaining one in the first place.
Feel into your personal truths, then hire a designer who is ready and willing to celebrate you as a unique individual. Take careful measures to choose someone skilled enough to incorporate elements that accentuate your perks while creating a professional look for your business.
