Marketing ideas throwing you for a loop? No worries. Here are a few for a quick pick-me-up! We live in the age of endless digital trends. There is something for everyone — I’m sure of it.

  1. Social Media

Opportunities are endless when you go digital. There are quite literally hundreds (if not thousands, I don’t know for sure, I can’t keep up anymore) of different platforms specific to industry types as well as general socialization and networking. Pick your platform and start promoting yourself. The best part? Most of these noisy, oversaturated channels are FREE. Have trade others should know?

2. Host a Free Training!

We’re going digital again. Webinars or quick video tutorials on “how-to’s” are an excellent way to promote your business and market your skillset. Make sure to offer your services in the guided video and also a way for people to get in touch for extra support if assistance is needed.

3. Past Client Appreciation

It never hurts to check in on past clients. Be sure to send a hand-written note once in a while to show you appreciated their business and also casually check-in to see if any further services are needed.

4. Referrals are our Best Friends

Friends, family, that guy standing in line in front of you at Subway – these people are going to lead you to someone else who may be in need of your service. Be friendly and reach out. Maybe just casually drop your business card in front of that guy at Subway depending on how creepy you want to be.

5. Networking

Thanks to new apps like Shapr and groups on Facebook dedicated to professional networking, meeting like-minded professionals has never been so easy. Another way of finding local meetups is to check with your Chamber of Commerce for any upcoming events.

6. Incentivize

Discounted rates are always enticing and a wonderful way to bring back old clients.

7. Blogging

Into blogging? Check into being a guest blogger on another website that has a similar target audience. This will help you grow your own audience by presenting yourself to a whole new group of readers.

8. Advertising

Facebook ads, Google Ads, Twitter, and Instagram. All of these platforms offer advertising. When promoting an ad be sure to promote your brand while focusing on your current incentive all the while not being too heavy on context. It’s a marketing game – people like images, not so much text.

9. Comment on Blogs

If you read a lot of blogs, try to comment on them. It’s like me and Twitter. I read a post and then read about 400 responses thinking in my head about all the things I’d like to say back but don’t because I eventually replay that awesome video;

Commenting will allow other fans of the blog to see you exist for one thing and then make them curious as to who you are … potentially leading them to your own blog/business. It’s a wildcard we play here but it has worked in the past.

Which brings us to …

Comment on social media! Don’t be like me and play that awesome video in your head. We do have time to partake in the crazy. I mean, what else do we really have to do? Run our businesses? Pffh.
